The Leslie Spit Treeo

The Leslie Spit Treeo are a rock duo from Toronto, Canada, comprised of Laura Hubert and Pat Langner (plus their dog Tag). They originally started in the late eighties in a trio format along with Jack Nicholsen (no, not the actor) as street buskers. At the time of their third album, Jack left the full time music business and they changed their name to The Spits, but have apparently changed back since. They have released three albums to date:

• Don't Cry Too Hard, Capitol EMI 1990.
• Book of Rejection, Capitol EMI 1992. (this page not yet complete)
• Hell's Kitchen, Tag Records 1994 as The Spits, rereleased 1995 as the Leslie Spit Treeo. This page was written by Aaron Bentley.

Laura generally handles the lead vocals, though she has been known to take on some challenging kazoo parts. Pat also sings vocals and plays the guitar. Jack did some vocals and played guitar. They use a number of additional musicians when recording and on tour to handle percussion, backing vocals, and the occasional keyboard.

They don't seem to make it out to Vancouver much, so I've only seen them live a couple times. Both times were at The Town Pump, the first being December 4, 1992, and the most recent time being May 5, 1993. If you're listening guys, I'd love to see you again (and let me know when you're coming ). I'm told they enjoy playing the Town Pump though, so I'm hopeful they'll be back soon.
